Day 100
Framing continues to be an absolute delight for those of us who love instant gratification. Each time I stop by the project - which is often - something is noticeably different. I am basically stalking my own house at this point.
In other news, we finalized the door order, which included selecting hardware for the main exterior and interior doors. We went with a Baldwin Gramercy full plate mortise lock in flat black for the entry door and Emtek Hercules levers with urban modern rosettes in brushed nickel for the interior doors. It’s basically the same design, but only Baldwin offered a mortise lock, which are more secure than cylindrical locks. I chose the urban modern rosette for sentimental reasons; its shape reminds me of my engagement ring.
Our next major order involves plumbing materials. Oddly enough, this is one of the first decisions we made when we started working with our architect, which feels like years ago, because it was. The first time I walked into a plumbing showroom, I was nearly paralyzed with indecision. There are so many options. But after a few more visits, the Husband and I were able to agree on a basic style and started to narrow our options down. We ended up choosing the Brizo Odin line in brushed nickel for all three of our bathrooms. Over time, I’ve been able to source a number of the accessory pieces on eBay for substantial discounts. Our plan is to order the remaining items online, with the exception of the larger, more fragile items, like the tubs, sinks, and toilets.
