Roughing it

We had a nice surprise this week: rough plumbing was installed a few weeks ahead of schedule. The plumber was delightful and gave us a tour of the work done so far. He’s worked with our contractor for twenty years and praised his organizational skills, which is always nice to hear. We also finalized our plumbing order, which was…substantial. Despite all my advanced eBay purchasing, we ended up going $10k over our line item budget. We’re still under budget for the project overall, but that definitely ate into the cushion created by our lumber savings.

Our calendar had us framing through the middle of December, but I gotta say this place looks pretty thoroughly framed now. Windows don’t show up until December 6, so I’m not sure what’s going down over the next two weeks. I could ask, of course, but where’s the fun in that?

(But based on the scaffolding that just went up, I’m guessing either roof papering or gutter installation.).
