All Trades Finish

First, the bad news: looks like our big move is being pushed into the first or second week of July. We figured it was coming, but it’s a bummer to have it officially confirmed. On the plus side, we keep reminding ourselves that we’re still moving home in a matter of weeks, not months.

Now, for the good news: the painters are finally done! All glass shower enclosures, mirrors, and cabinet hardware have also been installed. Here’s how everything looks now:

The rear exterior painting and hardscape has also been completed:

And the stone exteriors of the front and rear steps are nearly complete:

Electricians have been popping in to add outlet components, wifi hubs, and HVAC elements:

Ricky, the finish carpenter, has been installing closets, curtain rods, shelving, and door levers:

Wallpaper has been mostly installed in the dining room:

(I say mostly because I neglected to consider pattern repeats in my square footage calculations and consequently require two more rolls. They arrive on Tuesday.)

In the front, the much-maligned driveway apron has been removed, re-framed, and currently awaits a new concrete pour:

We’ve got some big developments happening this week. Both the plumbers and the landscapers start work on Monday. On Wednesday, all our appliances will be delivered and installed. We’ve already been asked to move all our (many) boxes of light fixtures out of our rental’s garage and over to the house, so installation seems imminent. After that, we’re looking at the final sanding and finishing of the floors, and a whole lot of building inspections.
