Three months out
We are now just three months away from our (very unofficial) move in date!
Here's some tiling progress:
I made a super rookie mistake with the Primary Bathroom tile. This was a split order; I snagged 96 square feet of Opal Pacific tile at the Heath Tile Shed and ordered another 39 square feet to make up the difference. Since both lots were 1st quality tile, it didn’t occur to me that they would be substantially different (this particular color has a high degree of variability in it anyway, which was one of the things I like best about it).
If you knit or crochet, you know the importance of dye lots. Turns out handmade tile is a lot like yarn. When I was unboxing the ordered tile, I instantly noted that it was overall much darker than my existing tile (much of which was already on the wall). I ended up spending a frantic evening opening all the remaining boxes and mixing the tile together. Naturally, this all went down at night, illuminated by only a flood light, and only hours before I had to hop on a plane and head to a work conference for a few days. Still, I think it came out really well, and I love the darker additions.
Another big development this week has been the application of the smooth (fourth and final!) stucco coat:
Meanwhile, our cabinets are now in the finishing stage, and hopefully will start appearing onsite in early April. Here’s the master punch list from this point forward:
