February is looong
The tyranny of the drywall float-and-finish stage has ended.
This project, generally speaking, has been action-packed. Most days we wake up to an email from our contractor asking us to make a selection or alerting us to an upcoming development. Most days conclude with a 5pm post-work run to the site to see what’s new. And, reader, this has been glorious for a couple that gets their hap hits from progress. I’m talking dopamine for days, the kind of highs that make you almost forget all the time and money and stress that goes into rebuilding a home.
And then came the drywall finishing.
For weeks, the only thing that changed was more mud on those interior walls. Then came the sanding. And more mud. So much mud. So much drying.
Last Wednesday, when I thought another day of drywall finishing might break me, it finally happened: STUCCO. This is only the first of four coats, but at least it was something new!
In other news, we trekked out to Berkeley last weekend to see our Rejuvenation lighting pics in person. I’m glad we went, because we made a few last-minute swaps. Here’s what we ended up ordering:
We also ordered interior trim. We went with simple, rectangular baseboards and this crown moulding (6” downstairs and 5” upstairs):
Next up: the garage door, the interior doors, and TILE!!!
